WHO IS SPEAKING INTO YOUR LIFE?

WHO IS SPEAKING INTO YOUR LIFE?

“And all the elders and all the people said to him, “Do not listen or consent.” 1 Kings 20:8 (NKJV)

Beloved, I want to encourage you, whenever you are reading the Bible, don’t be in haste, take your time, and try to understand the verse and what God is saying. Yesterday we dealt with choosing carefully what we listen and consent to.

However, there is much more to that verse, it opens up with “And all the elders and all the people said to him…”, meaning he recognized the place of the elders and the people in the land. Yes, he was the King, but that did not eliminate the place of the elders, he still regarded the elders and could go to them in difficult times.

The elders in this scripture represent leadership, some sort of covering, which today can be interpreted as the Pastor, who could offer him wise counsel. Child of God, do you have a Pastor you listen to? Is there a mentor, an accountability partner in your life? Do you have one who you can go to, to get wise counsel and seek direction from? No man is an island and you cannot know it all. God made us all interdependent, you need people to help you get to your destiny.

However, while you must have people who counsel you, please test every spirit. Don’t just take a counsel hook, line sinker, boat, water and everything under the water. Test every spirit. You are a child of God, so you must be able to discern and not just get swayed by every wind of doctrine. Remember the story of the prophet who God gave specific instruction to, but an old prophet deceived him and a lion killed him (1 Kings 13). God spoke to him clearly, but he missed it and got the reward of disobedience.

You must know God for yourself. God will use people to confirm the word to you, but you have the responsibility to hear Him. Jesus said “My sheep hear My voice”
