“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14 KJV)
A lot of people are sinning because they don’t yet have that mental understanding that they have been made righteous; not because of what they did right but because of what Jesus did. Child of God you must understand that we are not under the law, because we were Gentiles. The Jews were the ones under the law. God gave the Jews the law because they demanded it. In fact, God never intended to deal with them by law but by grace. Right from the book of Genesis, God was dealing with man by grace.
Throughout the book of Numbers the children of Israel were murmuring, which is a sin, but God never punished them. They said they wanted food, he gave them food. They said they wanted water, he gave them water. Whatever they needed he gave to them. Their dress never wore out. That is grace. However, if you go to Exodus chapter 19, they said to Moses, tell God we want him to give us rules to keep. They demanded it and from then on, God’s tune changed. God said since they want to work for what I have given them freely, Moses go and tell them that anyone that comes close to the mountain I will kill. This is so because the law kills. It is holy and perfect and will not bend for you.
The law tells you that you have to come up to God’s standard. That is what religion is all about, trying to rise to God’s standard, which is not possible. It takes only God to come to your level. The law demands righteousness from the unsaved, but grace gives righteousness freely to the unsaved without any struggle. The strength of sin is the law. And Jesus said since sin is holding you down, I will blot out the handwriting of ordinances that was against you, which was contrary to you. He took it out of the way and nailed it to the cross. Child of God, praise the Lord. You are free.
