“Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.” Ruth 1:6
Yesterday, we saw Elimelech leave the land of bread (Bethlehem Judah) because of famine and not only did he die in the foreign land, even his sons died there.
Thank God for Naomi, she did not allow the bitterness of her losses in Moab block her ears to the good news coming from Bethlehem neither did she allow shame keep her in Moab.
There are many people that have left their Bethlehem because the miracle they believed God for did not come. Unfortunately, unlike Naomi, they have allowed shame to keep them in Moab. They are so ashamed of their current condition that they refuse to return to where God has planted them. Beloved, if you are in that position, I come to you today with a word from God: there is a restoration for you. Don’t die in shame. Leave Moab and return to Bethlehem and watch God bless you.
Naomi’s situation was so bad that she was returning not only as a widow, but childless. Yet, she decided to go back. She decided to retrace her step. She knew staying in Moab was not going to add anything to her. So she made a choice to go back.
Beloved, look at yourself. Are you still rightly positioned? Are you in the place God called you to? Are you still serving or you have taken the back bench? Moab does not have to be a foreign land. You can create a Moab for yourself by leaving your place of service and refusing to be a part of the team. It can mean abandoning your work and seeking ‘greener pasture’. You know yourself. Stop and think and retrace your steps today. Naomi went back and the story is different; through Ruth, she was restored to the position of relevance in Bethlehem Judah. The same God will restore you too.
